Hannah Chudy has been selected as the Student Leader of the Month for December. Originally from Woodland, California, Hannah came to the University of Arkansas to major in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She currently serves as a research assistant for the ARKIDS Research Lab. Hannah also served as a lead Parent & Family Ambassador and R.O.C.K. Camp Mentor. Hannah has stated that a large reason she became so involved was to be a part of something that was bigger than herself.
When asked what she thought a leader’s most important qualities were, Hannah said, “ those who are truly passionate about making a difference and want to help others. I don’t think you can be a good leader if you don’t care about who you are leading.” Hannah also identified her father as a mentor, stating that “He has gone through adversity and hardship, but at the end of the day he still continues to strive to teach my sister and me how to be better people.” Hannah’s advice to other leaders is to “always be a coach and cheerleader for your peers. I think it is so important to mentor them but then also be their biggest fan.” Her favorite quote is “We rise by lifting others.”
The Student Leader of the Month award, sponsored by New Student & Family Programs, recognizes University of Arkansas undergraduate students for their excellence in leadership through campus involvement, leadership activities, or through volunteer and community service.
