Ranking among the top 5 in the nation for best study abroad programs by Great Value Colleges, The Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange supports students and faculty seeking educational opportunities abroad, including study programs, research opportunities, student teaching, and internships.  In an increasingly global marketplace, international experiences are encouraged for every major of study.

Students with study abroad experience are more successful in college, and reports show employers and graduate programs find international experience desirable in their candidates.  Programs are available for every course of study, and students can choose programs during the summer, semester, or academic year – anywhere from 10 days to 10 months, depending on one’s academic background and interests. Proficiency in a foreign language is not required for most programs.  Scholarships and financial aid are available.

In an average year, the Study Abroad Office sends students to around 50 different countries across the globe.  These opportunities include more than 30 University of Arkansas faculty-led summer and intersession programs; semester and summer opportunities at the University of Arkansas Rome Center; reciprocal exchanges in Australia, England, France, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Japan, and South Korea; professional internships, service learning, and teaching abroad.  In addition, students may select from an extensive list of recommended programs offered by affiliate organizations.

While many programs offer coursework in English, language immersion is also available. Students have access to various funding resources for studying abroad. Whatever a student’s specific needs are, there is a program that’s right for them and the Study Abroad Office is here to help them find it.
